The Yokogawa ADV161-P00/S2 is a 64-channel isolated digital input module purpose-built for the CENTUM VP and CS 3000 DCS platforms. It captures 24 V DC discrete signals from field-mounted limit switches, motor starter auxiliary contacts, and valve position feedback devices. This high-density module organizes its 64 inputs into four isolated groups of 16 channels each. The S2 variant includes an enhanced conformal coating that provides robust protection against severe corrosive atmospheres. This module effectively doubles the I/O capacity of a single slot compared to standard 32-channel alternatives.

The ADV161-P00/S2 processes all 64 inputs simultaneously and updates each channel every 8 milliseconds. This rapid scan rate ensures timely detection of momentary contact closures for safety interlocks and sequence-of-events recording. The onboard filtering circuits effectively eliminate contact bounce from mechanical switches and relays in the field. Each input channel draws only 2.5 mA, keeping total power consumption well within system supply limits. The 2 kV AC isolation barrier robustly protects the backplane from high-voltage transients and ground-loop noise. The S2 suffix adds an ISA Standard G3 conformal coating, offering superior protection against moisture and corrosive gases in extreme industrial environments. Status LEDs on the front panel illuminate for each active channel, greatly simplifying field troubleshooting. Hot-swap capability permits module replacement without powering down the entire control system.
