RAM Backup Solution for Modicon A250, A350, and A500 Systems
The BAT 102 serves as a dedicated battery housing module for Schneider Electric’s Modicon process automation platforms. Engineers deploy this unit to maintain critical RAM data during power interruptions or maintenance shutdowns. Consequently, the module protects program memory and configuration parameters from loss when primary power fails.

Redundant Battery Architecture
The BAT 102 accommodates two separate 3.6V lithium batteries in independent sockets. Battery 1 supplies maintenance current until fully depleted, then battery 2 takes over without interruption. Therefore, technicians can replace one battery while the other maintains RAM data integrity.
System Integration
The module occupies any standard I/O slot within the subrack backplane. A 5-pole terminal connects to contacts 40-44 for the PAB master interface. Additionally, the optional CBL 104 buffer cable enables data retention for intelligent modules mounted outside the rack.
Battery Monitoring and Alerts
The BAT 102 itself provides no LED indicators. Instead, diagnostic feedback appears through the ALU 151-154 or DEA 116 master module. Red LEDs labeled “Bat 1 Low” and “Bat 2 Low” illuminate when a battery requires replacement or installation.
