Technical Overview
The Honeywell RM7838A1014 is a microprocessor-based integrated burner control for semi-automatically fired single-burner applications. It handles gas, oil, coal, or combination fuel systems with exceptional safety and functional capability. This relay module replaces the older R4138A, B, C, and D models, though it does not include an override for momentary power interruptions. The complete system requires several additional components: a Q7800A or Q7800B wiring subbase, a compatible plug-in flame amplifier, and an ST7800A purge timer card.
The Honeywell RM7838A1014 delays fuel admission to the combustion chamber until the control proves the pilot flame. It then continuously monitors the main flame throughout the entire run period. Five LEDs provide clear sequence information on the front panel, and the included keyboard display module offers system status indication. A non-volatile memory retains fault history and lockout status even after a complete power loss. The pilot flame establishing period is selectable between 4 and 10 seconds, thereby offering application flexibility.
