This module delivers flexible analog signal acquisition for Honeywell distributed control systems. It supports multiple input types, including thermocouples, RTDs, and standard current/voltage signals. Field devices connect directly to the module’s terminals for seamless data integration.

Channel Configuration and Signal Support

The Honeywell 621-0020 module features 8 isolated input channels, each configurable for 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, 0-10V, or ±10V signals. For thermocouple support, it accepts types J, K, T, E, R, S, B, and N, while RTD options include Pt100 and Ni100. The module applies a 16-bit resolution (0.003% of full scale) and maintains ±0.1% accuracy at 25°C. Each channel achieves a maximum sampling rate of 100 Hz and delivers >120 dB common mode rejection at 50/60 Hz. The onboard ADC converts analog signals into 12-bit binary values (0 to 4095) for precise digital representation.

Protection, Diagnostics, and Connectivity

The module provides galvanic isolation of 1500 Vrms between each channel and the system bus. Overvoltage protection extends up to ±30V on voltage inputs and 50mA on current inputs, with reverse polarity protection for current loops. Each channel includes independent software or DIP switch configuration for input type, range, and filtering. Onboard LEDs indicate power status, communication activity, and per-channel overrange or failure conditions. The autocalibration feature compensates for temperature drift automatically.

Users can connect this module to a host controller via a parallel backplane bus using the proprietary Honeywell protocol. An optional RS-485 Modbus RTU interface allows standalone remote I/O operation for third-party systems. Data transmission uses 16-bit signed integers with scaling parameters defined during configuration. The removable terminal blocks support screw-clamp wiring for 0.2-2.5mm² wires.

Environmental Ratings and Application Use

This module operates reliably across a temperature range of -20°C to +60°C and stores safely from -40°C to +85°C. It meets IP20 standards and complies with IEC 61131-2 for industrial control equipment. The CE and UL certifications confirm its suitability for demanding environments.
