Technical Overview
The Honeywell 07170/1/1 serves as a dedicated programming tool for EPROM chips within the FSC (Fail Safe Control) system. It is purpose-built to program complete four-EPROM sets for CPU, communication, or memory modules. The programmer integrates seamlessly with the FSC user station software via the ‘Program application in EPROMs’ option . Its compact form factor allows for easy handling and storage.

Hardware & Connectivity
The programmer connects to PC interface modules 07177/1/1 or 07177/1/3 using the supplied 34-pole flat cable . Four onboard potentiometers (P50 to P53) facilitate precise calibration when used with the compatible interface module . The unit draws its operational power directly from the 5V and 12V rails of the connected PC interface, simplifying the setup process .
Operational Guidelines
Users must switch off PC power before connecting or disconnecting the 07170/1/1 programmer. Do not insert EPROMs into the socket until the programming software has fully started . Furthermore, the manual warns against electrostatic discharge (ESD) and fast transients on the PC power supply, as these can corrupt programming. The programmer supports a wide range of EPROMs but does not support 4 Megabit EPROMs like the 27C4001 on units produced before June 1, 1990
