The GE IS220PTURH1A IS220PTURH1AC provides distributed I/O for Mark VIe turbine control platforms. This module collects field sensor data and sends actuator commands. Therefore, it reduces cabinet wiring by placing I/O close to the turbine.
Product Overview
We designed this rugged I/O module for mounting directly on turbine skids. Its wide temperature range withstands the heat near steam and gas turbines. Moreover, this unit includes conformal coating for moisture and contamination resistance.

Distributed Architecture
The GE IS220PTURH1A IS220PTURH1AC communicates via Ethernet to the main controller. Its eight ceramic capacitors filter power for the communication processor. Additionally, two supercapacitors provide 30 seconds of hold-up for data saving. You can mount this module up to 100 meters from the main control cabinet.
Energy Storage Configuration
Two supercapacitors store enough energy to save critical data during power loss. Each supercapacitor provides 10 farads at 2.7V. They connect in series to achieve 5.4V for the memory circuit. The module saves all I/O states and time stamps before shutting down. Upon power restoration, it resumes operation without any data loss.
Installation Steps
Mount this I/O module on a DIN rail or directly to the turbine housing. Secure the module using the four integrated mounting feet with M5 screws. Connect the 24V DC power to the terminal block at the bottom. Then connect the Ethernet cable to the M12 industrial connector. Route all field wiring through the top-mounted cable glands.
Field Wiring Access
The module accepts wires from 26 AWG to 16 AWG through spring clamps. Each spring clamp releases by inserting a 2.5mm screwdriver into the release slot. Push the wire fully into the round opening until it stops. Remove the screwdriver to clamp the wire securely. Label each wire according to the terminal silkscreen before insertion.
Status Indication
Multiple LEDs provide immediate diagnostics without special tools. A green LED indicates the module has valid 24V DC power. A yellow LED flashes for each Ethernet packet received. A red LED illuminates for any internal fault condition. Eight additional LEDs show the state of the digital outputs. The GE IS220PTURH1A IS220PTURH1AC also sends diagnostics to the main controller.
RTD Measurement
Four dedicated channels accept 3-wire PT100 resistance temperature detectors. The module excites each RTD with a precision 250 µA current source. Automatic lead compensation cancels up to 25 ohms of wire resistance. Temperature conversion uses IEC 60751 standard curve coefficients. Accuracy reaches ±0.5°C across the full industrial range.
Application Scope
This I/O module suits new turbine installations and retrofit projects. Many gas turbine packages use the GE IS220PTURH1A IS220PTURH1AC for skid-mounted control. Its environmental rating meets NEMA 12 for indoor non-hazardous locations.
