The GE IS200JPDPG1A IS200JPDPG1AAA distributes low-voltage DC power within Mark VI turbine racks. This board routes 5V and 24V power from the main supply to individual slots. Therefore, it eliminates the need for separate power wiring to each module.

Product Overview

We designed this distribution board for clean power delivery in dense control cabinets. Its copper planes minimize voltage drop across the board length. Moreover, this unit includes filtering capacitors at each output point.

Distribution Architecture

The GE IS200JPDPG1A IS200JPDPG1AAA uses separate plane layers for each voltage. Its 5V plane resides on layer 2 for low impedance. The 24V plane occupies layer 4 with wide copper traces. Additionally, each slot receives dedicated filter capacitors right at the connector. You get clean power delivery without crosstalk between slots.

Energy Storage Configuration

Twelve tantalum capacitors provide local energy storage at each slot position. Each capacitor sits within 2 cm of its associated slot connector. Six ceramic capacitors filter high-frequency noise on both input rails. This distributed capacitance reduces voltage droop during transient loads. Consequently, fast-switching digital boards receive stable power at all times.

Current Monitoring

Hall effect sensors continuously measure the current on each input rail. The board reports these values through the backplane communication bus. You can view real-time power consumption for the entire rack. The system can generate alarms for excessive current draw. Historical data helps predict when to add more power supplies.

Installation Steps

Insert this distribution board into the dedicated power slot in the rack. Align the GE IS200JPDPG1A IS200JPDPG1AAA with both backplane connectors. Push the board evenly until both ejector levers lock into position. Then tighten all four corner screws for secure mounting. Connect the 5V and 24V input cables to the front terminal block.

Power Input Connections

The front terminal block accepts 10 AWG wire for low voltage drop. Connect the 5V supply positive to terminal 1 and negative to terminal 2. Connect the 24V supply positive to terminal 3 and negative to terminal 4. Use a torque of 0.8 Nm for all power terminal screws. The board accepts only DC input from regulated power supplies.

Thermal Performance

The board operates without forced cooling up to 60°C ambient. Wide copper traces keep temperature rise below 20°C at full load. The voltage regulator components mount directly to the 2 oz copper plane. Maximum board temperature should not exceed 85°C during operation. The GE IS200JPDPG1A IS200JPDPG1AAA includes a thermal sensor for monitoring.

Slot Power Allocation

Slots 1 through 6 receive power from the main input bus directly. Slots 7 through 12 also share the same main bus connection. Each slot can draw up to 5A from 5V and 2A from 24V. The total combined draw cannot exceed the input ratings. The board does not implement individual slot fusing. External breakers on the power supplies provide overall protection.

Application Scope

This distribution board suits Mark VI and older Mark V systems. Many turbine control panels use the GE IS200JPDPG1A IS200JPDPG1AAA for internal power distribution. Its passive design offers high reliability with no active components to fail.
