High-Performance P-Link Communication
The NP1L-PL1 communication module serves as the dedicated master for the high-speed P-Link fieldbus network. This communication module handles all network protocol processing independently, which offloads the main CPU for better overall system performance. Three selectable baud rates—2.5, 5, or 10 Mbps—allow engineers to balance speed against cable length requirements.
The module supports up to 32 slave stations per segment and achieves a minimum link scan time of only 1 ms. Consequently, this communication module provides deterministic, real-time data exchange for demanding motion control and high-speed automation applications. The generous data link capacity of 1,024 input words and 1,024 output words accommodates large distributed I/O configurations.
Physical Design and Installation Features
This communication module occupies a single slot in the MICREX-SX base rack and measures 60 mm in width. The module weighs only 0.20 kg, which simplifies handling during installation. A front-accessible 9-pin D-sub connector provides the physical interface for the P-Link trunk cable, allowing easy connection and disconnection.
Three LED indicators—green for RUN, red for ERR, and a bi-color SD/RD for data activity—deliver immediate visual feedback on network status. The built-in termination resistor switch eliminates the need for external termination components. Therefore, this communication module simplifies installation and reduces overall system cost.
Power Consumption and Environmental Tolerances
The NP1L-PL1 draws 300 mA from the 5 VDC backplane power supply, which ensures stable operation even in fully populated racks. This communication module operates reliably across a temperature range of 0°C to 55°C. It also withstands humidity from 10% to 90% (non-condensing) and resists vibration up to 5G at 10-150 Hz.
