Low-Cost Processor Networking with the NP1L-LL2
The NP1L-LL2 provides an economical LE-net communication link for MICREX-SX SPH programmable controllers. Fuji Electric designed this module specifically for processor-to-processor data exchange within distributed control architectures. Engineers deploy it when reliable inter-node communication matters more than high bandwidth demands.
Network Architecture and Redundancy
LE-net supports both multi-drop and single-loop redundant wiring configurations. Consequently, the NP1L-LL2 maintains data communication between nodes even when transmission line breaks occur. This loop redundancy delivers high system reliability at a relatively low implementation cost. Each SPH system accommodates up to eight LE-net modules for scalable networking.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Network Protocol | LE-net (Fuji Electric proprietary) |
| Connection Types | Multi-drop or single-loop redundant |
| Communication Modes | Broadcast and message communication |
| Max Modules per System | 8 (2 for SPH200) |
| Redundancy Function | Loop-2 redundancy via maintenance FB |
Integration and System Compatibility
The module occupies a standard slot within the MICREX-SX base board assembly. Furthermore, single and redundant configurations can coexist within the same LE-net loop. This flexibility allows engineers to optimize wiring costs across different network segments. The NP1L-LL2 operates seamlessly with SPH200, SPH300, and SPH3000 series processors.
Operational Characteristics
LE-net employs Fuji Electric’s original communication protocol for deterministic data transfer. The module handles cyclic data refresh alongside event-driven message transmission. Therefore, it suits applications requiring synchronized control across multiple processor nodes. This low-cost link module eliminates expensive network hardware while maintaining industrial-grade reliability.
