The Honeywell Engineering Card is designed for use in the System 57 rack, providing a critical interface for commissioning and operating control cards. This card enables users to monitor, adjust, and validate system components, ensuring smooth operation and early identification of potential issues.

Key Features

• Self-Validation: Continuously validates circuit components, software, and backplane communications, ensuring the system operates without issues.
• Front Panel Components: Includes tactile push buttons, LEDs for rack power and communication status, and a mini DIN socket for connecting external devices like serial printers, computers, or engineering keys. The engineering key unlocks functions that alter control card operations.
• Rack Integration: Always installed in the right-hand slot, it performs essential functions:
  • Routes 24V DC input from the DC Input Card to the backplane.
  • Controls and monitors backplane serial communications.
  • Provides time and date reference.
  • Facilitates an RS232 external engineering interface.
• Functionality Based on Security Level: Allows users to:
  • Monitor and adjust catalytic sensor head current.
  • Check and adjust alarm set points.
  • Calibrate sensor signal zero and span.
  • Set sensor life monitoring values.
  • Monitor sensor lines.
  • Enable control card alarm inhibit.
  • Check and adjust the system clock.
• Self-Validation for Reliability: Ensures high system reliability by performing continuous self-validation for components, software, and communications.

Optional Modules

The Engineering Card can be equipped with any of the following modules to enhance functionality:

1. Master Alarm Update Module: Alerts users to new alarms, even if prior alarms remain active.
2. Event Printing Module: Generates time-stamped reports on alarms, faults, and system status at set intervals.
3. Modbus Interface Module RS422/485: Supports digital communication between the System 57 Control System and external computers using RS422/485 and the Modbus protocol.
4. Modbus Interface Module RS232: Facilitates communication between the System 57 Control System and external computers using RS232 and the Modbus protocol.
