Overview
The GE IS200VPROH2B is a Turbine Protection Board for the Mark VI control system.
It provides an independent emergency overspeed protection mechanism, operating separately from the main turbine control system.
System Components
1. VPRO Board
- Core of the protection module with triple redundancy.
- Manages emergency trip functionality.
- Supports Ethernet IONet communication with control modules.
2. Terminal Boards (TPRO and TREG)
- TPRO Board: Interfaces between VPRO and TREG boards.
- TREG Board: Supplies positive 125 V DC to trip solenoids.
- TRPG Board: Supplies negative 125 V DC to solenoids.
System Functionality
Emergency Trip Function
- Controls up to three trip solenoids, connecting TREG and TRPG boards.
Trip Solenoid Control
- TREG: Positive power supply.
- TRPG: Negative power supply, allowing independent turbine trips.
Relay Control
- Manages 12 relays on TREG.
- Includes voting inputs for redundancy and reliability.
MPU Characteristics
- Output Resistance & Inductance: 200 Ω, 85 mH.
- Output Voltage & Load: 150 V peak-to-peak with 60 kΩ load.
- Short Circuit Current: Max 100 mA.
- Normal Mode Load: Up to 400 Ω for voltage stability.
Hardware Verification Procedure
- Operate K25P Relay
- Force Sync Perm output under VTUR card points.
- Probe TTUR screws 3 and 4.
- Operate K25 Relay
- Simulate generator voltage on TTUR screws 17 and 18.
- Set Sync Bypass1 = 1, Sync Bypass0 = 0.
- Probe TTUR screws 4 and 5.
- Operate K25A Relay
- Simulate generator voltage on TPRO screws 1 and 2.
- Set SynCK Bypass = 1, SynCk_Perm = 1.
- Probe TTUR screws 5 and 6.
- Note: Bus voltage must be zero (dead bus) during this test.
