Overview

The SDCS-CON-2 control board is designed for ABB DCS500 and DCS600 series converters. It enhances industrial drive systems with high-speed processing, precise control, and robust communication capabilities. The board integrates a 80186EM microprocessor with an ASIC circuit (DC94L01) for reliable operation in demanding environments.

Key Features

1. Microprocessor and ASIC-Based Control

• 80186EM microprocessor enables fast processing and efficient control.
• DC94L01 ASIC circuit provides advanced functions:
  • Communication via RS-485 (control panel and field exciters)
  • Measurement, watchdog monitoring, and A/D & D/A conversion control
  • Thyristor firing pulse generation for precise converter operation

2. Integrated Memory and Backup

• Flash PROM (D33 & D35) stores system programs and parameter values.
• Static RAM circuits with 1 F backup capacitor retain operational data for several days.
• Full backup capacitor charge takes approximately 30 minutes.

3. Watchdog Functionality

• Monitors the operation of the control board program.
• Automatically disables writing to FPROM and resets critical outputs during faults.

4. Communication and Integration

• DDCS channel supports data rates up to 4 Mbits/s.
• Terminals X16:4 and X16:5 provide +24 V / ≤150 mA power for fieldbus modules.

Input/Output Scaling

• Analog Inputs: ±90 to ±270 V, 12-bit resolution; other ranges: ±30 V, ±8 V, or fixed ±3 V
• Digital Outputs: 7 outputs, short-circuit proof, 160 mA total limit
• Encoder Supply: Selectable 5V, 12V, or 24V

Special Notes

• Ensure impedance matching (120 Ω) and use sense lines for voltage corrections
• Signal definition: 0–8 V = “0”, 16–60 V = “1”
• Analog smoothing time ≤2 ms for high accuracy
